My story
How it actually happened.
Before I was a VA, I worked in film in New Orleans. Then I made a decision that changed everything.
Spoiler: I almost quit in year one.
2012
I quit my desk job
Zero VA experience. Just me, a laptop and a determination to never step foot in an office again.
3 weeks
My first client
I landed my first client three weeks after I started.
4 months
Salary, replaced
Four months in, my VA income had replaced my old salary.
Year one
18 clients
By the end of my first year I had 18 clients. (More on what that did to me in a minute.)

The pattern
Somewhere around client number one hundred, I noticed something. The VAs who got hired fast weren’t always the most skilled. They communicated differently.
2018
A neighbor’s nudge
A neighbor suggested I share what I’d learned on YouTube. So I hit record, and I haven’t stopped teaching since.
Today
Still a VA. Still teaching.
65,000+ students on Udemy and 1,400+ in my own programs, across 40+ countries. And I still support my own clients in venture capital and finance.
The night I almost quit
“It’s 2012. I’m in my pajamas at 2 AM, crying over a bowl of cereal.”
I’d said yes to every client, and I was already burned out. I felt like a failure.
Here’s what I know now: the problem wasn’t me. The VA industry had no real standards. No playbooks, no systems, just a lot of people winging it.
That night forced me to build rock-solid systems. They turned my business around, and they’re the backbone of everything I teach.
What I believe
Three things I’ll always tell you.

You don’t have to feel ready.
Confidence comes after you start, not before. Waiting to feel ready is the most common reason people never begin.

You’re not starting from zero.
Managed a calendar? Answered emails? Kept a group plan on track? Clients call that experience, and you already have it.

Your office can be anywhere.
I’ve spent over a decade working from wherever I want. That freedom is the whole point of this.
Still in the trenches
I never stopped being a VA.
When I teach you something, it’s because I did it last Tuesday.
I still work as a VA today, supporting clients in venture capital and finance. The templates, scripts and systems in my courses come straight from that work.
